Neurologic Screening for Cerebellar Impairment or Brain Dysfunction

Rapid Alternating Movements

Have the individual rapidly open and close their hands or attempt to keep a rhythmic beat through the tapping of a tabletop. Individuals with cerebellar dysfunction demonstrate an expressed inability to perform this activity. Obviously, persons who are uncoordinated or who have arthrodial problems have an inability to comply.
