Superficial Transverse Perinei

 

The Superficial Transverse Perinei is a muscle of the perineum.

Anatomical Attachments:

  • Origin: Attaches to the tuberosity of the ischium.
  • Insertion: Attaches to the central tendon of the perineum.

Action: In both genders it stabilizes the perineum, and enhances the sphincter action. In males, supports the prostate and in females, supports the vagina.

Nerve Supply: Pudendal nerve.

Vascular supply: Internal Pudendal artery.
