Individual Position: The individual is seated with both of their legs dependent.
Practitioner Position: The practitioner is standing at the side of the leg to be tested, applying one hand to the posterior aspect of the thigh and the other hand placed slightly superior to the ankle.
Description of Muscle Test: The individual is requested to extend their leg against the practitioner’s resistance. The practitioner should watch for the individual attempting to lean backward and recruit their hip flexors or exclusively use their Rectus femoris.
