Quadratus Femoris

 

The Quadratus Femoris is a muscle of the gluteal region.

Anatomical Attachments:

  • Origin: Attaches to the external border of the ischial tuberosity.
  • Insertion: Attaches to the greater trochanter of the femur and the linea quadrata.

Action: Laterally rotates the thigh.

Synergist:  

Antagonist: Gluteus minimus, Tensor fasciae latae.

Nerve Supply: L4, L5 and S1 nerves.

Vascular supply: Medial circumflex artery.
