The stylohyoid is an anterior muscle of the neck.
Anatomical Attachments: Action: Elevates and retracts the hyoid bone and the base of the tongue during swallowing.
Nerve Supply: Stylohyoid branch of Facial nerve VII. Vascular supply: Occipital and facial muscular branches. Vascular entrapment: Occasionally, entraps the external carotid artery and the posterior auricular artery.
