Omohyoid

Pointer Plus

The Pointer Plus is an easy to use trigger point (TP) locator which incorporates a push button stimulation feature to immediately treat Trigger point pain.

The Omohyoid is an anterior muscle of the neck.

Anatomical Attachments:

  • Origin: This muscle has two bellies. The Inferior belly attaches from the superior surface of the scapula, suprascapular ligament and the tendon inferior to the sternocleidomastoid muscle; the Superior belly extends superiorly from the central tendon.
  • Insertion: Attaches to the inferior margin of the hyoid bone.

Action: Stabilizes the hyoid bone and depresses and retracts the hyoid and larynx.

Nerve Supply: C1, C2, C3 Ansa Cervicalis.

Vascular supply: Sternocleidomastoid branch of the superior thyroid artery and Suprahyoid branch of the lingual artery.
